NGRAIN Forms Technical Advisory Council of Renowned 3D Visionaries and Experts

NGRAIN applies diverse skills and strategic insight of industry leaders, including Bill Buxton, to shaping company's technology vision, product roadmap and market focus

VANCOUVER, BC — February 2, 2004— NGRAIN® Corporation, a leading developer of interactive 3D visualization and simulation software tools, today announced it has formed a technical advisory council comprised of leading international experts and academics in areas such as new media, industrial computer graphics, human-computer interaction, systems design and aerospace engineering.

Working with NGRAIN's leadership and R&D teams, technical advisory council members will apply their insight and specific areas of expertise to advancing the company's core NGRAIN technology and product roadmap. NGRAIN will also greatly benefit from the market knowledge of council members as it continues to aggressively expand into key vertical markets, such as aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing.

Members of the NGRAIN technical advisory council are:

  • Bill Buxton, an internationally recognized expert in design and human-computer interaction. Mr. Buxton is Principal of his own boutique design and consulting firm, Buxton Design, and Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
  • Eugene Fiume, Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, with deep experience in academic and industrial computer graphics.
  • Chris Rogers, Lead Programmer Analyst and Systems Design Architect for Boeing's 767 Tanker Transport e-Learning team.
  • Murray Gamble, Director of Modeling & Simulation, Aviation and Cognitive Engineering (ACE) laboratory, Centre for Applied Cognitive Research (CACR), Carleton University.
  • Claude Cajolet, General Manager of BlueStreak Technology Inc., which offers the building blocks for the development and operation of iTV services and other interactive network applications.

“NGRAIN is thrilled to have attracted talent of this caliber to help guide the evolution of our technology and products to ensure they meet the needs of specific industry segments,'' said Paul Halmshaw, Chief Scientist, NGRAIN. “We're confident the company will benefit tremendously from the council members' proven strategic thinking and extensive technical expertise in our target markets.”

"What excites me is working with a company that is driven by an understanding of users and their needs, and the potential human value of their technology, rather than just their technology per se," said technical advisory council member Bill Buxton. "By coupling such understanding with this formative team of gifted, energetic people, I see huge potential for creating interactive 3D solutions that solve real-world problems across a broad and diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and geographic information systems."
