NGRAIN Awarded Multi-Year Contract with the Canadian Air Force

NGRAIN will lead team of partners to provide software modeling solutions to advance the Air Force’s training capabilities

VANCOUVER, BC — April 1, 2008 — NGRAIN, an award-winning provider of 3D performance support solutions, announced today that it has won a multi-year contract to deliver Technical Investigations and Engineering Support (TIES) to the Canadian Air Force. As the prime contractor, NGRAIN will lead a team of strategic partners to provide modeling and simulation solutions to the Department of National Defence’s Canadian Advanced Synthetic Environment (CASE) training program. The contract is a maximum five year term with a value based on current estimated Air Force requirements of $5 million.

“The Air Force and DND Materiel Group demanded the Modeling TIES bid meet concise technical requirements. Our proofs of concept indicate that 3D knowledge objects convey information extremely rapidly, so we are mindful the objects represent correct information,” said L. Col. Rick Thompson, Director of Air Programmes 7, Canadian Air Staff. “For both legacy fleets and new acquisitions, we need to capture, manage and distribute valuable weapon system knowledge. The Air Force intends to use NGRAIN modeling and visualization tools to support training and system management for our aircraft fleets.”

The NGRAIN-led team includes the following Canadian defence contractors: CAE, xwave, Standard Aero, Fleetway, Cogsim, Valcom and 3Plains. As prime contractor under terms of the agreement, the NGRAIN team will create a repository of 3D software modeling services that are easily accessible across the Department of National Defence (DND) for a variety of purposes including training, maintenance, and enhanced performance support. This contract will also provide capabilities to help the Canadian Air Force to address the training and lifecycle management requirements for legacy and new aircraft, and related equipment.

“This contract is a significant milestone for NGRAIN, and demonstrates our ability to take the lead on a large, complex procurement vehicle to deliver a broad range of capabilities to the DND,” said Paul Lindahl, CEO of NGRAIN. “NGRAIN was selected in a competitive open bidding process, which is validation of the team’s expertise in providing DND with the required simulation and modeling capabilities. These advancements are particularly important to prepare for the delivery of new aircraft in support of Canadian Forces’ NATO missions around the world.”
