Viewer: Convert and reuse existing 3D data
OVERVIEW
A free software application, NGRAIN® Viewer allows users to interact with NGRAIN 3D Knowledge Object™ (3KO®) simulations, either on their own or as part of HTML pages, Microsoft® Word documents, PowerPoint® slides, or Adobe® PDF files.

With Viewer, users can explore virtual equipment, view internal components, experience part movement constraints and fluid flows, watch procedural animations, and practice or be tested on part removal and replacement tasks in real time.

Viewer is optimized for efficient delivery of 3D simulations over the Web, and does not require a specialized 3D graphics acceleration card, removing the burden and cost traditionally associated with 3D graphics.

Using NGRAIN Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF plug-ins delivered with Viewer, easily insert 3KOs in Word, PowerPoint, and PDF files. (Alternatively, publish HTML pages from Producer or Producer Pro.)

(Applications created using NGRAIN Production Suite’s Virtual Task Refresher and Virtual Index Builders do not require Viewer to be installed – simply open and play.)

  3. Depending on your security settings a "File Download" dialog box may appear, giving you the option to Open or Save. After you have made your selection, the download package will open.
  4. Click the NGRAIN VRML2 Converter application to open it and start converting!

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. We recommend you close any other programs you are running.
  2. Click "Download" to download the Producer package. The download package includes:
    • NGRAIN Producer
    • NGRAIN Viewer Pack (includes Microsoft Office and PDF plug-ins)
    • NGRAIN VRML2 Converter
    • Sample 3KOs
    • NGRAIN User Guide
    • NGRAIN Viewer Quick Start Guide
    • NGRAIN Producer Datasheet
  3. Depending on your security settings a "File Download" dialog box may appear and you may be given the option to Save or Open the file. After you have made your choice, the file will open.
  4. Navigate to the NGRAIN Producer folder and click to run NGRAINProducer501.exe. Follow the steps presented by the installer to complete the installation of Producer.
  5. Navigate to the NGRAIN Viewer folder and click to run NGRAINViewerPack50.exe installer. Follow the steps presented by the installer to complete the installation of Viewer.
  6. If you wish to use the NGRAIN VRML2 Converter, navigate to that folder and click the VRML2 Converter application to open it.

  • NGRAIN VIRTUAL TASK REFRESHER DEMO:

    • Based on NGRAIN commercial-off-the-shelf software, the NGRAIN Virtual Task Refresher (VTR) is a customized application that leverages 3KO® (3D Knowledge Object™) files — or 3D equipment simulations — to support remote personnel in the performance of operation, maintenance, and repair tasks. VTRs can be deployed by simply copying the application directory onto a CD-ROM, USB Key, or computer hard drive, and can run instantly without performing any installation. VTRs do not require administrator rights to play, leave no footprint on computers, and conform to US Department of Defense Mobile Code policy.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Service Pack 3 (SP3), Windows Vista® Service Pack 2 (SP2), or Windows 7 operating system
  • Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2 x86 - 32-bit) or .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2 x64 – 64 bit).
  • Windows® Media Player 9.0 or later
  • 1024 x 768 display resolution
  • 16-bit or 32-bit display color depth

  • Performance is related to computer processor speed and memory and to the complexity of the 3D model.
  • 128 MB of RAM and a 700 MHz processor is the minimum; however, 512 MB of RAM and a 1.4 GHz processor is recommended.
