At the heart of NGRAIN solutions is the 3KO
® (3D Knowledge Object™), an interactive 3D simulation that contains and visually communicates knowledge about the equipment system it represents.
In addition to creating custom 3KOs for its customers as part of product solution deliverables, NGRAIN offers hundreds of highly detailed 3KOs, representing a wide range of air, ground, and marine systems and sub-systems. These 3KOs are designed for use in maintenance training and support applications and typically provide the ability to disassemble the virtual equipment to the “nut and bolt” level of detail, as well as maintenance procedure information, in the form of procedural animations, real-time practice tasks, and interactive tests.
Designed with industry standard IT infrastructure in mind, 3KOs are:
- REUSABLE
- Created once, the same 3KO can be used in multiple applications. Much like JPEG images or Video files, 3KOs can be inserted into HTML, Microsoft® PowerPoint®, Word, PDF, and Windows Forms applications.
- ACCESSIBLE
- 3KOs operate on common Microsoft® Windows-based computers without requiring specialized graphics acceleration hardware, and can be accessed anywhere, anytime, as the IT infrastructure allows.
- PORTABLE
- Each 3KO is a discrete, compressed package that can be stored on local, internal, and external networks, and is optimized for web deployment.
- INTEROPERABLE
- 3KOs are optionally conformant with the Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and have been proven to interoperate with leading Learning Management Systems.
- DURABLE
- With NGRAIN Producer, users with no 3D experience or programming skills can update the knowledge contained within a 3KO (such as the procedural animations or real-time practice tasks).
3KOs from NGRAIN’s library can be customized to meet specific customer needs for use in customer-specific NGRAIN Virtual Task Trainer, Virtual Task Refresher, and other solutions.
NGRAIN provides 3D Knowledge Object (3KO) files to customers as part of an NGRAIN product deliverable, such as an NGRAIN Virtual Task Trainer solution, Virtual Task Refresher, or Virtual Index. Each 3KO may be modified to meet the customer’s specific requirements, such as changing part detail and/or editing procedures to exactly representing the customer’s approved technical procedures.
Customers can use NGRAIN Producer software to update and re-purpose 3KOs.
In addition to offering hundreds of highly detailed 3KOs that represent a wide range of air, ground, and marine systems and sub-systems, NGRAIN produces new 3KOs when one is not already available.
